Old Testament Testimony Resource
Old Testament passages organized by the key elements of the gospel testimony.
An Excel spreadsheet with Old Testament passages which bear witness to Christ. On the day Jesus rose from the dead, He declared to His followers that they would be witnesses to the things which testify about Him in Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms. Jesus instructed His followers to agree with the testimony of God concerning His Son, which was revealed in the Scriptures in advance.
Christ identified four main categories to which they were to bear witness:
That the Christ would suffer
That the Christ would rise from the dead
That the Christ would enter His glory
That repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations
After telling them these things, Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:25-27, 44-49).
While we don’t have Jesus’s instruction recorded, we are fortunate to have the completed New Testament writings. This spreadsheet is intended to be a resource to help you begin your own study of what Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms foretold about the Messiah. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but a helpful beginning to your own understanding.
May you be blessed in your study! As you learn, remember that the purpose is not just for your own edification but that you will be better equipped to bear testimony to these awesome and powerful truths in the world. To the praise and glory of His great name.
